We call our country America because our country is called “The United States of America” The people here are referred to as Americans because of the “America” that is part of our country’s name.

Americans have to deal with stereotype based jokes all the time over the internet. Don’t get all whiny when it happens to your country. Its a case about dishing a joke but not being able to take one.
